Governing Body; Villians or just Deluded?

I think most of them would really struggle in the "real world". Few of them are well qualified to find well paid employment, so it would be low paid jobs. Trying to find affordable accommodation, paying the utility bills, running a car and then getting ready and travelling to the KH for the meeting.

They have none of these problems, they never have to wonder if they can afford to have the heating on, save up for travel and accommodation for assemblies......

The list goes on.

They would have to be desperate to give up what they currently have whatever they believe deep down.

i never remembered a governing body..just knorr.

That's because when we young there wasn't a GB. The organisation was run by Knorr, Franz and a Board of Directors. The GB as we know it came in 1971 I think.

There was a WT a few years back that showed a photograph of "the governing body mid 1950's". Trying to rewrite history, that same photograph is in the "Proclaimers" book as "board of directors mid 1950's". In the WT caption it is noticeable they did not capitalise governing body! Very sneaky that.

Has anyone still in or otherwise heard anything about JWs think we only have 12 months before Armageddon?

i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.

i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.

anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.

Well here in the UK Armageddon is not coming today.

It's already tomorrow in Aus and they would have told us by now.

Seriously, when my parents were baptised in the 1940's, they were told that their Little George would not have to go to school in this old system. Well, they were wrong. George did go to school, work, married and been retired many years now. It's all just a dream.

sadly, british blm activist sasha johnson is critically ill in hospital after being shot in the head.. first, i'd like to wish her a recovery if this is possible.. but i also think this could be a good test case of how the british media report this event.. i think it could be good to explore media bias.. so, we have the right-wing daily mail saying that, according to her friend, sasha johnson was shot in the head due to being in the cross-fire of a gang shooting, and that she wasn't the intended target, neither was she targeted because of her politics.. at the other end of the spectrum, the left-wing guardian is saying that she was shot after receiving death threats, according to her political party that she founded.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9612115/drive-gunmen-shot-black-panther-oxford-sasha-johnson-head-fired-house-party.html.

In September 1752 we (UK and US) changed from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. We effectively "lost" 11 days. Do your calculations take this into account?

I definitely am growing old in this system

I was born in the 1940's. Little George would never have to go to school in this old system. As I progressed through school, at least I would never leave and have to get a job....get married etc etc.

Well I am really old now and the old system is still going and will still be going long after I am gone and forgotten. My only consolation is that I went to Uni which has been a great help. There are so many in my congregation that are kept by the DSS (aka this old system).

i began riding motorcycles in my early teens.

my 1979 honda xl500s became my best friend.

i had a few teenage neighbors and school friends that rode too.

Always had a bike of some sort. No one has ever suggested it was not done for a JW. i cannot reveal my current bike as it would ID me but I know of local elders with a BUSA, ZX10r, Suzuki Bandit 1200, BMW 1200 GS. All a lot more powerful than my modest machine.

Advancing age and health issues mean I get out less than I would like but I have non-JW biker friends which keep me sane.
